Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Pain Disorder
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
Many of our clients unfortunately are diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy pain disorder (RSD) as a complication of an initial traumatic injury. CRPS or RSD are broad terms describing excess and prolonged pain and inflammation that follows an injury to an arm or leg. Most CRPS/RSD cases are caused by improper function of the peripheral fiber nerve that carries pain messages to the brain. Most injured workers with CRPS/RSD need long-term pain management care.
Long-term pain management
Under the Indiana Workers Compensation Act, doctors can order long-term pain management as part of a workers compensation settlement. However, if you settle the case without an attorney or with an attorney who is not familiar with the Indiana workers compensation laws, you may end up with a settlement that doesn’t include funds for future medical expenses.
